OK, so Lance is officially back in the peloton for 09 and says that he'll be doing some cross races this fall including the upcoming Cross Vegas at Interbike.
Seriously, what are the chances that he might do an OVCX race? Its got to be higher than zero. I read that he bought a house out in Colorado for training, so I imagine their's a higher probablility of him racing in TX or CO. Would he / could he race a UCI elite level race? USGP in KY maybe? Wasn't his now teammate Chris Horner there last year?
How freakin cool would if be if Big Tex lined up for the start of Harbin Park. I know it's just wild dreaming, but THAT would be cool. |

| Funny. I heard the same just a minute ago. The really crappy part is that I skipped InterBike this year and had some sweet VIP passes to CrossVegas. Looks like I'll be drinking tonight - alone. |

One of my teammates was at the race last night: "You absolutely have to make plans to attend Cross Vegas next year. It was easily the biggest and most electric crowd of any bike race I have ever been to. They estimated it at 15,000. The elite mens race had more than 100 riders including numerous olympians and national champions from various countries, no less than 3 current or former world champions and I am probably forgetting some, and at least one 7 time tour winner. Even with this stacked field, and despite what you will probably read in race coverage tomorrow, Ryan Trebon made it look easy. A lead group of 12-15 stayed together for most of the race, but even when attacks were off the front of that group Trebon had a look and smile on his face that I know. There was no way anyone else was going to win. I would not be at all surprised to see guys like Sven Nys showing up next year. In fact I would be surprised if they don't. Also probably the only bike race you will ever go to with 15-20 stretch limos lined up to take people back when the race is over, and the Las Vegas skyline in the background." |

Mitch I was there last year and completely agree. This season business at home kept me away (which sucks becuase the folks at the USGP were gonna hook me up big time). When I saw Lance was going to be there it just stung a little more. Tonight is the crit in the Mandalay Bay parking lot. Same crowd, same energy level. Absolutely amazing. It shows you what bike racing can (and should) be in the States. Next year for sure. |
