| I am in the market for a cross bike ... small budget: $500. Hoping someone out here can steer me in the right direction! (53-55 would be ideal) |

your best bet is ebay for that price range. i think the specialized tri-cross singlecross is around $800. that's a single speed. my wife was in the market for a cross bike and had a really hard time finding something in her size, color and price range... and that was on a moderate-expensive budget. her brodie romax frame arrived today. i don't get to see it until friday night when i get home, but she's very excited about it. she needed a 49cm frame and that fit the bill. you might want to check out the brodie romulus for $750 complete. http://www.brodiebikes.com/2008/2008_bikes/romulus.php or the frame only for $400. http://www.brodiebikes.com/2008/online_store/factory_clearance.php?series=8
brodie was awesome to work with... great people. gotta love those canadians, lol.

Just an update... the brodie frame is awaesome (and beautiful!). can't wait to get that thing built up :) only negative was that the frame got held up in customs for a few days. not their fault.

Webgirl, I've got a 2004 52 cm Trek XO-1 for sale if you can come up some on your money. Thing is, this bike has never been ridden. Long story. Lemme know if you have an interest, I'm in Louisville. Serpiente
