| Just curious as to bike etiquette on the trails. I always get out of the way as I'm, well, slow. Yesterday I was on the MTB Classic and had 3-4 bikers pass me going the opposite way. It had me thinking that maybe there was a typical flow pattern and I was screwing it up. Not only that, but of course I was going uphill most of the time. I also noticed the sign for the trail was at the end I came out of. |

there is no right or wrong way to go on cherokee. there's a better way (counter clockwise) but it's something that would be nearly impossible to enforce. me and the wife rode it both ways yesterday. the only reason we rode it backwards is because we ride that trail nearly every day and wanted something different (it's actually quite fun backwards). |

| Ok, that makes sense. I'm sort of aimlessly wandering at the moment. I just see a trail go off into the woods and I take off down it as I have no idea where all the trails are yet. |

What? Someone trying to edge me out as they slowest mountain biker in the state? I don't take kindly to that kind of thing.
I vote counter-clockwise for both Cherokee and WLT. Counter-clockwise means starting at the tennis courts at Seneca and working your way over to Cochran Hill, then Hogans Fountain, and then meeting your doom on No-Net. |

That just shot way over my head. I couldn't even grasp it with my 3" vertical. I don't remember seeing tennis courts. Just basketball. |

I think the trail is a little harder going the opposite direction of the Scenic Loop. Whenever I do it this way there seems to be more climbing involved. Some of the obstacles are a little harder as well. Sometimes I'll do a loop one way, then turn around and do part of it the other way if I still have some time to kill. No-Net is a beast going up instead of down. |

| Is there a map of all the trails in Chero-Seneca? I am intimidated to even go over there because I am unfamiliar with the park, and even more unfamiliar with the trail-heads. |

Counter-clockwise means starting at the tennis courts at Seneca and working your way over to Cochran Hill, then Hogans Fountain, and then meeting your doom on No-Net. Pretty much the same place, at Pee Wee Reese. KyMBA-ers often park at the tennis courts near the rest rooms and playgound on the Seneca Loop, I'm guessing so they can hit on all the young joggers and single moms in that area. The trail runs along the boundry of the golf course and dumps you out onto Seneca Park Road until you get to Big Rock, which you should skip because of all the erosion damage, at least on the lower part. Then you hang a right onto the Bird Sanctuary trail, then the Seminary trail, then Cochran Hill, then over to Hogans Fountain.
Anyone who does anything different will have to answer to MEK. |

| I'm a little hesitant to ride in groups as I don't want to be "that guy" huffing and puffing on the ground and/or missing the shift to granny crawl the hill. Maybe after I ride a little more and get back into something resembling "shape". |

| heh, I normally start at hogans fountain and go to the right trail (with the log jump). For a warmup I usually ride the left trail, jumping the first turn (not taking the switchback) and riding down that first. |

I posted this over on singletrack.net, but didn't hear any feedback. Here's a Google Earth file with some spots I marked for Cherokee and Seneca Parks. Several marks are not 'official' names, such as 'Horse Bridge', and just 'Climb' on Beal's Branch Road, which leads up behind the maintenance building at Cochran Hill. If you can add more spots, or know a better name, let me know. (I hope this link works - let me know if it doesn't. I haven't messed with any AOL stuff in years.) http://members.aol.com/rhdy586/myhomepage/cherokee.kmz |

Every time this gets mentioned you start belly aching (I'm outta Town, My bike is broke, my feet hurt, I'm too old, My giner is swollen again, etc etc) In short, I would be up for starting up the Wednesday 6:00 ride again (No Drop, which means we wait at Big Rock, bottom of KyMBA downhill, Entrance to Cock-run, Entrance to New Trail after Baringer [ie Hogans) Bottom of No Net.
Start at Seneca BB Courts. Ride Golf course, through Big Rock, Up Montana to the start of seminary. Do 2 laps of race loop, back through Big Rock Upper Trail, road to WL where we climb out and take the front Golf Trail Back to BB Courts. At least we will get some mileage
