I know this is beating an almost dead horse but Raven Run would be a great place for us to start adding bike accessable trails in Lexington.  I know they are dead set against bikes out there but there's got to be a way to win them over.

Does anyone have any information on past attempts?

Lexington is making some great strides towards adding "bike" paths but they are all paved. LOL  We need to find someone into biking that owns 1,000 acres(+) and build something on that!!!

You know, Fireball, you couldn't have picked a better time to make that point. Yesterday SB 196 passed which basically says private landowners can now open their land to recreation and be afforded the same liability protection government agencies enjoy. In very short order, we can start going to large land owners in Fayette Co. (like developers and farmers) and soliciting them for access to their property.

As for Raven Run, you're damn right it would be sweet and a few of us are working on it, but the language that accompanied the original donation of the land to the County is what makes it so restrictive. It's like wilderness designation. Tough spot, but we're looking at options.

Keep us posted.

Mike & Fireball- could you send me e-mail regarding any efforts thus far about opening up trails to MTB at Raven Run.  I really think it would be beneficial if the negotiations and discussions that take place have a member of the Mayor's Task Force involved.

Thanks,

Brad
