Hi all,
I am traveling to Louisville next monday and tuesday and I think I can bring my bike this time. I am planning to hit Cherokee.
For those who don't know me, I am Paul Arlinghaus and am the V.P. of HMBA. I am the one doing all the fun admin work for the BCSP RTP grant and will be taking care of the admin work on the new grant that will be building trails at O'Bannon.
It would be great to ride with some KyMBA folks and I can answer any questions you have about O'Bannon or other Indiana stuff. But mostly, lets ride.

I would love to hear an update on O'bannon though.

| We have a normal Cherokee/Seneca ride starting at 4:45 pm on Tuesday from the Wilderness Loop trailhead in Seneca. It will be a moderate pace ride (fair bit slower for sure than Tonybob is accustomed to). Might also run by Cycler's Cafe afterward. Send me an IM if you are interested. |

4:45 on tuesday works for me. I also will likely have time to ride on monday night. What else should I check out in the area.

My work plans for monday are making monday evening look unlikely. But I am still up for Tuesday at 4:45. Thanks for the offer Tony, but I will pass on the tempo ride. Paul |

| Its a shame you couldn't make it to Waverly. With the exception of the fall line hill aka/Montana Mountain, Its the closest thing Louisville has that resembles BCSP. I think you would like what you see and respect the hard work they done to meet IMBA's specs. |

| Ricdix: I couldn't make it to Waverly on Tuesday but he is going to be coming to the 'Ville a fair bit in the next few weeks. So, maybe he'll get out there. |

Sorry for the delay in posting. but traveling for work always puts be a couple days in the hole at home and work. Thanks Chuck for showing me the trails. It was a great ride and awesome to see some hills and rocks on an urban trail. I saw some great stuff, switch back turns and nice bench cutting work. Like any urban park the trails come with there own set of challenges. But no trail is as important as the one that is close to home. I will try to hit Waverly the next time I can bring a bike down. Sorry I missed you. Gonna hit Brown County possibly on Sunday. Care to share the "new" trail for a visitor. PM me if you like. Thanks! |

Chuck, I sent you a PM with info on the Expert trail at BCSP.
Waverly was a blast. Lots of great work there. I stopped and the big rock pile and started taking pictures of the sweet contour trails. I could see the old trail (50' straight into the creek) and the long section of flowing trail that replaced it. Great stuff. I had to turn around and ride back up to ride the section with out stopping for pictures.
I have done too much trail work, and now when I ride a trail for the first time I spend the ride focused on the trail construction. As I climbed one of the remaining fall line trails, I looked to my right and saw the blue flags just where the the trail should be.
Great job guys,
Paul |

I also came down from Indiana recently for a couple of days of mtn biking in KY.
I had a great time and really enjoyed the trails I hit; Waverly, Otter Creek, Sal Hollow, and Younger Creek. Thanks to whoever maintains and designed the trails!
I was kinda suprised at how easy most of the trails were to ride. That was a good thing for me, as I just felt like chilling out and watching the leaves fall. The Younger Creek trail is a real hidden gem. After that crazy steep initial climb it's just mellow cruising on the ridgetops. Beautiful!.......How does it hold up in the winter? I would think it would dry out fast, but I couldn't help but notice that a lot of the trails are on flat terrain.
There's a new trail system in my neighborhood, Versailles State Park, IN, that's shaping up to be pretty good. We're up to 13 miles of intermediate trails and counting. Alex Steward's crew is buiding trail as we speak.(He did a lot of the work at Brown County,IN) His latest creation at VSP is looking world class, in my opinion. Versailles is located about 1/2 hour west of Cincinnati, on HWY 50.
Thanks again for all the cool trails!
