Last time I looked this forum was named off topic.  I would assume if someone were interested in only reading about MOUNTAIN BIKING to stay in that forum.

One reason I tend not to frequent the site as much, too many people just looking to put a thorn in someone's side over nothing, know they're doing and get off on doing it.

People come here to release, enjoy and socialize about whatever so who cares, let it go.

I see no problem with non bike related posts. I do have a problem with unprovoked attacks on it's members.

Attacking someones member is very uncool.

Great point Gerald, that is one reason there was a debate over keeping the forum and we felt it was worth keeping for all the other reasons and content.

perhaps "off topic" forum needs a 4 letter word to be effective... this is fontucky n all.....

gone ridin' peace...

I agree with Gerald, Gene, and Rico.  With each new version of this site, I spend less time on it.  If this was straight about mountain biking only, I probably would'nt be on here two or three times a year. Now, if I can hang out and flame Marvin, Creep, and TWL,  that's a different matter!

You guys that can't take a joke need to switch to road bikes anyway.

Is this the part where someone tells me to watch my language/behavior because I might offend someone from parks and rec (that supposedly monitor this site)?

That's my favorite.

I guess it's hard to be sarcastic on a forum. It was all sarcasm. I mean I even said SHEEESH for crap-sake. (more sarcasm) In all honesty, a lot of it is rooted in truth though.

Chuck makes no bones about not liking political threads because they are non related to mountain biking. That was at the heart of my post. Chuck hasn't said anything about it. If it bothered you Chuck, please accept my apology. Everyone else lighten up!

I really don't care what anyone's political belief is. It makes no difference to me, as I would still show up on trail day and hack, dig, and smooth dirt with anyone, left or right.

What I don't understand is why we can't discuss real issues which affect us all. (in an open forum not behind some partition) If you want to talk about a movie, I really don't care. I agree with Paul. If this were a forum about mountain biking only, I would rarely visit this site.

I believe many others feel the same. How good for advocacy would that be?

Actually, I don't mind that there are political threads by G-man, Rico or anyone else for that matter. I just hate the attitude that frequently occurs when it does. The tone goes well beyond whitty, thought provoking and slightly sarcastic into the realm of being sardonic and often mean-spirited. Sardonic is characterized by scornful derision or bitter irony; mocking; cynical; disdainfully or ironically humorous. I would characterize many of the threads here that are political in nature quickly go there and there are people here who appear to take great joy in doing so.

It would be cool to have a remake of "Ironman" using only sock puppets. Kind of like a low-scale "Team America".

The term -tucky is often added  as a derogatory term often applied to a town or area where people are perceived as backward or hick. I know that Ipsilanti in Michigan is often referred to as Ipsitucky. Lucky us.

I've got a co-worker that moved here from Montana last year.  One of the first things he told me was people would refer to him as being  from Montucky.

I'm a Kentuckian. (And my apologies to Mike Fink)

It goes without saying that we're smarter, stronger, and better looking than any yankee.

We can out sing, out dance, out fight, and out fornicate anyone not fortunate enough to be born in the bluegrass state.

I'm really sorry for ya'll that ain't native.

I led the race until we were about a mile in, then I blew up and everyone passed me
