I just received my HMBA jersey and it is the cat's azz. Will KyMBA ever get any new jerseys?  www.bikejerseys.com

It would be nice - jerseys and more. Last spring we posted a jersey pre-order and got exactly zero responses. We solicited pre-orders again in late june and no one bit. Needless to say, given the fact that we had about a dozen XXXXXL jersey's left over from 05, we held off on another blind jersey order. We were able to make a sweet easy-up out of one of them, but I think the rest are still in the box. Maybe we'll get more interest this year.

Is this size a true statement or an over exaggeration?

I'm not fat. That's a fuel tank for the love machine!!!

Rico,
Go to the website I listed in the original post and they have a sizing drop down window. It's crazy that I should wear a 3XL. Are they trying to make me feel fat? I am very offended by that.

Mike,
HMBA made everyone prepay, perhaps that would eliminate the potential for leftovers. I seem to remember a different response the last time this issue was raised. It seems like we had at least 25 verbal commitments, then we were told to wait until the KyMBA elections. I know that's not very many, but maybe the webmaster could set up a way to commit to X number of jersey's and then when we get to the right number of commitments, make everyone pay at that time and place the order. There is also the issue of design. The HMBA jerseys are incredible to say the least. BTW, when are the KyMBA elections?

It is an exaggeration - in fact, my whole response was a little flip. Sorry about that - not appropriate.

G Man is right to ask and it is high time that we had new kits made and I would love to see it happen this summer, but someone will need to spearhead the whole process - I've already got too much on my plate.

Here's some history. We had a couple of really odd ball sizes left over, I think a couple shorts that were three or four-XL and a couple jerseys that were about the same (you would have to be well over 250 to wear these things - they were tents - could fit two pencil necks in one jersey). I will have to check the boxes and see where they are, but they sat around for a couple of years - just long enough that we decided not to run any new kit orders unless we could get at least half the order as pre-paid. When we got the quote last year, our cost was $65 for the jersey and $55 for the bib shorts. I'd like to get less expensive stuff, but apparently the quality really drops off (especially in the chamois). BC introduced me to the folks at Champion systems and I think they offer the best product (and the most color options) for the money.

Another option we've talked about was approaching the various shops around the state for a small donation. Similar to the tee-shirts, their logo would go on the jersey and their deposit would help off-set the up front costs. (It's worth noting, several of the shop owners I spoke with said they would sell our jerseys at their stores, but they wouldn't pre-pay like they do with regular clothing vendors)

Regardless, we would still need to take pre-orders, mainly because we simply can't afford to take even a small loss on these things. (currently we're trying to buy some new trail tools and put together the new membership perks package, so our finances are going to be pretty tight).

Hope this helps answer the big questions. If anyone wants to take on the jersey project, please let me know (send a pvt message or email me at fasterdulin@yahoo.com). Steve Bland and Jack both have the artwork and templates and it would really just be a function of getting the orders together and getting quotes. We can still look into approaching shops for a donation, but given how crappy the winter was, I don't think anyone's sales have been so stupendous that they'll be writing checks anytime soon.

If there is interest in either the jerseys or taking on the ordering and fulfillment project - let me know.

Thanks all.

Verbal commitments are one thing. Plenty of people will say they will pay for one, but when the order comes in plenty of people will disappear. This is coming from experience with other organizations. If a link on this page could be set up to order KyMBA swag then orders could be made maybe every six months. A paypal accoutn could be set up to put the money in so when it is time to order, only those who pay get one. If any profit is made then that could go to order extras for those who want swag in between orders. This is just a suggestion. While I am far from the most active member, I would love to sport a KyMBA kit while on the trails, but since I am not as connected as most I really am not sure who to pay, who is ordering, where to pick stuff up, etc. Having on online ordering system and having kits mailed out or available to puck up at a shop would make it much easier on me.

G man - thanks for the info, sorry I didn't see your response until I had already written. The HMBA stuff does look sweet, if that's an option people are into let's run with it.

I just saw the last line, too. Another good point. Elections were basically put on hold - Paul Rose and Bryan Wright were interested in taking on chapter president roles in their given areas, Gerald Z was going to take on the Secretary role and I put in for President, but that's all the farther it went. We looked into mail in ballots (paper, printing & postage totalled almost a grand for that little project) and were also trying to get an on-line voting function set up, but it just ran out of gas. There was so little interest in the officer positions we just shelved it until we had more time to address it. We're basically on auto pilot right now - not ideal. I'm really not comfortable spending any club money until the officer positions are restored (need those checks and balances) and have been really hesitant to even move ahead with necessities like clinometers and additional hand tools. It's a tough spot.

Again, anyone interested in helping out at the administrative level, please let me know. We need data crunchers, fulfillment people, graphics people, money people and as always, trail people.

Thanks.

fasterdulin,

Check what sizes you do have and let us know.  I'm interested if "the size is right". :)  Depending on how they are actually sized will depend on if I'm a candidate or not.  Thanks.

Just think of it as being really buff.

BTW
I'm offended that you think 3XL is fat.  LOL

If you've got a little time on yer hands, check out this thread on mtbr in the Clyde's forum.  Quite entertaining.

Mike,
Is there any chance that you could get Steve or Jack to post the current artwork for everyone to see?

Is this some sort of BLACK project that only a select few are aware of?

Extra covert - code named "operation side pipe". Actually not secret, but I did ask Anthony to help us develop a new kit option. He has a way with these things - magic fingers. I will also try to get images of the "old" kits - some of you may see them out from time to time - or see them in the photos. I'll dig out what I can as soon as possible (it might not be until monday, though, trail care crew this weekend). I don't think we have the artwork digitally, but again, I'll check.

Steve or Jack - if you happen to read this, can you shed some light? Thanks.
