There's probably a little of truth in each argument. Bush is not the smartest guy for sure. Clinton was very smart, but too stupid not to have sex with a child in the Oval Office. I dunno...smart people just don't have the charisma to be elected... Obama is still popping zits, McCain will never make it four years....have you seen his cougar of a wife? He's probably popping Viagra like smarties... He'll have a stroke or MI at the first sign of real stress... For theses reasons, I'm writing in......the only man with the gonads to support the right, and still say no to banning gay marraige, oh and the guns to strangle anyone in his way....yes...the TERM in ate her... |

| Old Bill Clinton was very politically smart, I'll definitely give him that. Hillary always seems shocked when the media don't bow down before her like they did him. |

| Tommy your right wing site failed to report that Saddam let IAEA inspectors into Iraq BEFORE the U.S. invaded and they found nothing. Like PR said the evidence was inconclusive and furthermore Saddam was participating with international agencies so a peaceful conclusion could have been obtained. I don't want to get into a political discussion on a mountain bike forum, but you can't just copy and paste stuff from the net. Everything you read has an agenda. |

He let them in, but he was giving them the runaround and not really cooperating. That's why the country was under constant sanctions and threats from the UN (which they never bothered to follow through on). As far as finding nothing...does no one remember when they found a squadron of F15s buried in the desert out there? No telling what might still be out there. |

gawd, i didn't want to post on this stupid thread but ROD, the rules for how the IAEA operates are majorly flawed. first of all, the IAEA always has to act in a way in which to please the nation that is being inspected. if said nation thinks the inspector is too aggressive, they will oftentimes refuse to grant a visa which will leave the inspector out of a job. also, the IAEA has no authority to look for clandestine operations. it only inspects decalred facilities which the host country has said contains certain nuclear facilities and material. they also cannot demand samples of material being irradiated. do you really think Saddam would let the IAEA inspect any weapons-making nuclear facilities? hell no. The UN is a joke and the IAEA is a joke as well. They are both set up to fail and get absolutely nothing done. i have been trying to ignore the political slanted threads(even though i was a poly-sci major) on here but this caught my eye. |

5 years later, No WMD's, 5 Years later nada, nothing. Oh maybe in 2028 we will have the privilege of seeing 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Aluminum Tubes' there is a whoile world under the sand and OIL. That is brimming with half naked nymphs processing aluminum tubes and driving Mobile Production Facilities for Biological Agents. Oh and there will be Mummies too. |

| forget iraq. if people think iran only has good intentions with their nuclear facilities, they need to take off those rose-shaded sunglasses. now do i think we should just declare war on them to deal with it? no, but there are other options. |

That's because the WMD was hung and disposed of properly. |

You're completely right, but the point I was trying to make was war shouldn't have been an option. I would have like to have seen international options exhausted before war. I also believe the UN and IAEA is a joke. Like you point out he could have been making weapons in an undeclared facility, which would have been totally overlooked. I was typing that post in a hotel room lobby that night so I didn't elaborate as much and maybe my point was missed.

cool. it's a shame they can't scrap the whole current UN plan and start from scratch to make an organization that could actually get things done. cause the way it is now, it's pretty worthless.

how many other things can you think of that would be better off scrapped and "re-invented"? 1. the US tax system 2. Medicare 3. Ky government (maybe just the electorate?) 4. your gas guzzler 5. Microsoft Windows change is hard |

Herbert Walker used to run around in Saudi Arabia in the 1920's and 30's, doing oil deals for Standard Oil. With tribesmen living in tents. Then one day when no Americans were allowed to fly in their own country, Herbert Walkers grandson let the grandkids of those tribesmen fly home. Since then Herberts grandson has been to Saudi Arabia twice with his hat in his hand. Asking for some relief from high oil prices. Those boys sure have treated old Herbs grandson bad. |
