I've crashed into a fair number of things (trees, rocks, other bikers, squirrels, hang-gliders [ok, maybe not a hang-glider])... but a Black Bear? Yikes!

And yes, I do realize that this occured in Montana, on a road bike, and that this is a KY mtn bike forum... but still. |

| I have run into HUGE black snakes, snapping turtles, dodged multiple birds, dogs, cats, squirells etc. I almost slammed a deer at the begining of the season, but this is crazy... |

| my buddy ran over an armadillo while ridding some trails in the N'awlings area. I thought that was a pretty stranger critter to hit while on the mtb. Hitting a bear would be exciting in a real scary way. |

Three black bears spent about two weeks running around my house year before last. It made my woman high strung. As a general rule of thumb, the two hardest things to get a wheel on are squirrels and meth freaks. The freaks are the human equivalent of a squirrel. You can ride down here all your life and never get on more than one or two. |

My wife would be outside around the edge of dark, and come inside complaining that something was really snorting, and moving stuff in the woods behind our house......I'd go outside and listen. Sure enough, I could hear stuff going on. I thought it was deer rutting. Duh! |

| I hit a squirrel once on the Wilderness Loop. It made a crunchy sound under my tires. I went back to put him out of his misery but he scurried off. Given that I'm a leftist liberal I probably could not have brought myself to do it anyway. |

I ran over a tree hugging Lib by accident one time.
When I hit im a green slime flew every where.
Then a little bug crawled out of his body, jumped into some sort of space craft, and flew of into space.
As he flew away I heard "Obama is our leader and we will take this planet filthy human". |
