I believe you to be a reasonable guy, good citizen, former Marine, and not an ideologue. I admit it, your ardent support for Obama has mystified me. For a long time I thought you were kidding, like when I came out as a Hillary supporter.
So, why do you support Obama?
If you will, answer 1. free of partisan BS 2. no labels 3. no links to propaganda sites 4. reasonably specific. I promise I'll hear you out.
For the birds that want to chirp up, let me demonstrate how it's done:
Legit: I support Obama's intent to quickly withdraw troops from Iraq. BS: We shouldn't have been in Iraq in the first place (life ain't no video game and you can't hit the reset button. Ya gotta play the cards you're dealt).
Legit: Obama favors nationalized healthcare. BS: He'll create jobs by the millions (no, the private sector does that).
Legit: I like Joe Biden and he'll be a real plus to the executive branch. BS: Palin has moose-snot for brains.
BTW, Why do I support McCain? 1. He's a military man who understands appropriate use of military force. I trust his judgement. 2. He's promised to appoint strict-interpretative judges, ie no judicial activists. 3. I like Sarah Palin. 4. On a short-term basis, economically I think it's a wash. On a long-term basis, all I can say is that I was active duty military during the Carter years, before some of you whippersnappers were born. Talk about ugly.....
Well, that didn't hurt a bit, did it? Your turn. Like I said, I'll consider what you have to say thoughtfully.

Well, In all honesty it did start as a joke. The more I see of Palin/McCain the more I question there ability to "Change" Washington.

Well, those are the type of arguments that would sway folks who are swayed by those types of arguments. I'll leave it at that. Those of us who are right-of-center have been prepared for a regime change for a year now. The weird thing is that we assumed it would be Hillary! I don't know if I consider Obama truly better or worse. Time will tell, as it always does. There are many consolations. I think Palin has been a force for good, a grass-roots call for reform with the Republican Party. I also think the press's treatment of her will lead to some sort of reform of the Media, albeit a free market reform. Ten years ago, even five years ago you could claim with a straight face that "the Media" was middle-of-the-road objective. Now you'd get laughed at in your face, even by other liberals. Just ask Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton what they think about the Media's handling of Obama. I'll still have my wife and kids and grandkids. I'll still ride bikes until I break something really bad or come down with some crippling disease that wouldn't let me. I'll still have creative reasons not to ride with Chuck or MEK (crap, do I have to spell it out for you? You guys are too fast/good/testosterone-laden. There now. Are you happy?). And, scant thrill as it will be, I'll be able to say for the next four years: I TOLD YOU SO! |

| i was swaying toward Obama to begin with, for reasons mentioned above. then McCain picked Palin. The thought of that dumb-ass in office makes me sick. It would have been completely different with someone like Lieberman in there |

Where have you been? We're back in the USSR already. Did'nt we socialize some banks this morning????
We're doing it a new way though.
We're socializing risk. And keeping profits privatized.
Guess who pays. |

During the Palin-Biden debates I was baby-sitting my 8 month old grand-daughter. When Old Joe got that mean look in his refurbished eyes, stared into the cameras and started chanting "George Bush, George Bush, George Bush....." it scared the crap out of my grand-daughter and she started screaming her head off. I then gave her to her mother and told the two of them to hit the road.
That, my friends, is reason enough not to vote for Obama. Please don't traumatize my little grand-daughter anymore.

Dilbert,
just keep in mind that someone who has referred to Obama as a "dune coon" which I guess is his attempt to make "sand ni**er" politically correct, is going to vote for the person that looks most like themself. I'm sure there are countless others right there with him. Of course they doesn't like Obama, I mean, he isn't even white. |
