Posted By Rowbear on 10/02/2008 10:14 AM webguy, your avatar makes so much sense now Plus...I own an Airstream. If you're ever at a race and see a giant silver tube RV...come say hey. That's me.
It's all becoming clear now isn't it?

That was a good find. Some VERY telling quotes and "analysis" in that article. Surprised no one on the campaign trail isn't using that for sound bites about now. |

Posted By G-MAN on 10/02/2008 8:44 AM Our government is at the root cause of this CRISIS...
By pressuring banks to lend money to other than ideal borrowers... (social engineering)
So, I have to ask this question...
Does anyone on here STILL want government run health care? Anyone?

| Me too. I think we should just load up all our usa gang members on C40's and offload them directly in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Solves two issues in one swoop. |

The Trek is on my work bench still stripped down...
Lot's of new parts to go back on after painting...
You will be the first one to see a picture...

Those things are very cool. Most are made by their owners although one company makes them. I've always thought a slightly larger version would be great for hauling bikes in the back and still have enough room up front to camp through a weekend.

Don't forget about Senator Dodd; he is just as culpable as Barney (homo) Frank...
Did I say that out loud? Oops!
Now before any of you chide me for calling him a homo...
Just remember, he brought it to the surface...
It's not that there's anything wrong with it, or anything like that... |

If I stumble upon a decent trailer (base), I would'nt care to try to build one of those things. They look like they would work fine at a mtb race.
I'm interested in such a thing because I live a long way from most point series races, and the cost for lodging has went through the roof along with gas and everything else recently. (Remember, I'm the tightwad that posted "Life At $4.00")
Registration cost. 300 miles round trip in gas. Room and meals if I stay overnight. I can't handle much of that, nor do I really have time to race the full series anyway. But I have to be judicious, and pick my spots.
Recreation in the age of austerity. |

| Even with my gas guzzling motorhome it's the cheapest way to race multi day events. This weekend I'm headed up to Cincy for the UCI 3 day cross racing. I'm taking two teammates (possibly three) with me. We're spending the weekend up there in campground between races. It'll be $60 per person for gas and camping (for three people) and less if four go. Can't stay any cheaper. Plus we bring out own food, all our gear and don't worry about out bikes outside on the car rack. |

| As the years have rolled by, a camper looks much better than a tent for moi. Backpacking or kayak camping is one thing, spending the night before a big race is another. You guys may see a cot tent beside a red nissan next year. |

Posted By Rowbear on 10/06/2008 10:11 PM is that a pet skunk?
In 1981 a pet skunk in Ky that had been in captivity for approximately 18 months grew ill, and bit one of the owners. The animal was killed, and tested positive for rabies. All the family members and several of their neighbors had to recieve treatment for rabies.
This case affected the legality of skunks nationwide. Now, skunks are legal in about half the United States. Ky is not one of them. Depending on who one talks to in Frankfort, an exotic animal permit could possibly be aquired, if the skunk is kept caged.
Apparently, the 1981 skunk was allowed to roam outside. It begs the question; was the rabies dormant, or did the animal contact it outdoors? (Skunks are omnivores, and will happily chow down on anything they find.)
About five years ago in the midwest (memory escapes me) a girl's pet skunk (two years old I think) grew ill and bit her. Against the families wishes, the skunk was killed and tested for rabies. No rabies. Dead family pet. Now this family has a Senator seeking to introduce revisions to the handling of skunks nationwide.
Sooo, probably not legal in Ky. And if you fix the thing, it won't have any defense when released in the wild.
My little buddy is just passing through.

Interesting to see McCain hoking up Obama with FNMA & FRE during the debate right now. Still not bought by the mainstream, however. It is much easier to blame one person rather than 535, and we love to take the easy way out. |
