The bike is cleaned up and ready to race. Hopefully it's not a mudfest. Looking at the weather forcast it's probably going to be VERY sloppy.. SIGH

I have been in contact with BikeCoachDave, he has his crew getting the race loop ready. I understand that the trail system holds up well to rain. With that in mind the race day conditions should be good. Right now only 60% chance of rain Fri. night and with a later start time the trails should be Fine. I will suggest an early morning course walk to take care of any wet spots if necessary. Should be a great race.
Don't forget kids it's SATURDAY SATURDAY SATURDAY!!!

Finished our 2nd day of trail work. The trail is in really good shape. I want all to keep in mind that this is a shared, multi use trail and that there are, and will be some horse damaged areas. Thankfully none of them are race threatening.
There are a couple of pretty deep wash outs here and there from the winter and spring floods that may be beyond our ability to perfect between now and Saturday, but again, they arent anything that is so bad we would call the race because of.
If you have never raced at Green River, be aware of the infamous Lindsey Hill.
Its a downhill section that is twisty, rugged, and STEEP.
Lots of sitting on the rear tire and all rear brakes. This is where all the locals clamor to watch the race.
The climb back out will have 80% of the pack pushing. The rest of the trail is far less technical, fast, and fun.
So if you can handle some horse made rumble strips and the 1/2 mile or so of all-natural steepness, then you should be in for a great time.

Sounds great Dave. Hopefully the monsoon they are predicting for later this week and weekend misses us.

Yesterday we had sunshine for the latter part of the day at Green River.
Some of our riders have been out riding in the course to help pack the horse prints.
Today we only have a 20% chance of rain so we will likely get to work on the trails again.
Tomorrow is 60% chance of rain, which may not be that bad at all.
All the huge stuff that was originally forecast looks to be tracking to the west of us at this point.
I think we are going to be fine.
Saturday is windy and with the late 11:00 Central start time, this should be of further help with the trail.
Make your plans boys and girls. :)

Anyone from the Lexington area going to the Green River race this Saturday? It's my first race, so I'm entering as a beginner, but given the distance I figured it would make sense to try to find out if there is a car pool leaving from the area. If anyone knows of one, or is interested in setting something up, let me know. My email address is Travs17@gmail.com.

Finished up the bulk of the trail work today. If we had the race today it would be nearly ideal.
THe course is in good shape and we totally reworked the worst 2 washouts today. Went from almost unrideable to almost perfect. We moved a lot of dirt.
So if lots of rain doesnt wash it all away, WHOO HOO!

We can get a moderate amount of rain and we will be just fine. The trail has zero water on it now and a couple places are actually a bit too dry.

Even if you get rain in the Ville or Northern Kentucky, Dont assume we are getting it.

Our radar looked light green most of the day, yet we had partly cloudy, then full blown sunshine for most of the afternoon and it continues as I type.

I will report again as needed and keep you folks up to date with any significant changes.

I'm hoping Green River didn't get it's azz handed to it like Louisville did last night. Geez what a storm.

And I agree with Crusty, racing is addictive.

I live about 30 miles from green river. It did rain hard for a little while early this morning, and we still have a light rain. It does not seem to have rained nearly as much as the western part of the state. Will this be the same course as last year? Yes, racing is addictive. This will be my third xc race. Last year I did green river (really cold), and park mammoth (really muddy). My goal this year is to do at least one race where is is both dry and moderate temperatures.

Well you've raced in 2 of all conditions of racing.  The next and final step for you is to race waverly in the 100+ degree weather and then you can say I"m hardcore... LOL

I don't want green river to be a repeat of mammoth last year, if so I"ll be a spek tater, as that race was a little fun it also sucked severly.
