Otter Creek will be the final showdown for several riders Ray Smith vs. Travis Green. (1st in beginner 19-29) Nick Barbieri vs. Robert Turpin (battle for 2nd place expert 19-29) Mark French vs. Bob Belan (battle for 2nd in sport 40+) And the ultimate battle between Zach Herzog and Jesse Roberson for the 1st place title in Sport 30-39 Some could lose the title by simply not finishing, you may see riders running their bikes around the course with flat tires, taco'd wheels and broke frames. This race is gonna be the Battle Royale.

Rusty,
Maybe I'm confused about how this whole thing works. Travis Green has 4 first place finishes, a second, and a third.
Ray Smith has two second place finishes, two thirds, one fifth, and one sixth.
How are they battling it out for first place?
It looks to me, that Travis has it sewed up and could even show up on a tricycle and still win first place.
Isn't it the best six races?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. |

looking at the rules it looks like its the best 7 races......you just have to do 6 to be qualified for rankings. It does look like travis has it wrapped up though.
oh hold the phone ladies and gentlemen. looking at the rules it looks like there might be some descrepency. we are gonna have to get Rusty to come out and give an official ruling.
From the rules page of the ky series:
"Point Series Scoring ...... Only a racer's top 6 finishes will be applied to the series total. Points will only be awarded for Cross Country (XC) Short Track (STX) and Time Trial (TT)
Qualification Riders must complete 6 Kentucky Point Series races to be eligible for Series final results. A riders top 7 scores will determine final point standing."
There was some rules changed with the cancelation of the Cave Run Race so i haven't followed close enough to know whats going on with that.
On another note with the winners of each category......are they going to be forced to move up in category in the ky series next year??? No need in giving the trophy to the same person year after year because "they don't think they are ready to commit to that many hours of training". I mean i've got one more year in the 19-29 class so maybe i want to go back down to beginner and take the ky series win (if i even could) before i moved up to the 30-39 class.

| I think the forced move up is okay, D.IN.O. does it, but only a forced move up if there is actually competition. The first year I won sport class I think there was only two of us to do enough races to qualify. |

| Whether I win the sport 30-39 Cat. or not i will probably move up to expert at some point next year. I really wanted to get a 1st place overall in sport before moving. The only reason I am leading Jesse is because I've done more races. He has more 20's. If they change it to top 6 races, I'm in trouble. |

Sorry folks that pasted section above from the KPS sight was an oversight and since been corrected. It now reads "a racers top 7 finishes will go towards the series total"but a rider only needs to complete 6 races to be elligible for final standings. I changed it to only having 6 races required after Cave Run cancelled, but decided to keep the top 7 in effect to reward riders who have completed 7 races. as far as forcing riders to move up a class.... well... I would hope the peer pressure would dictate an upgrade but have not ruled out a mandatory upgrade for some riders. |

| I'm going to kick Nick Barbieri's glutius-maximus at otter creek. I got that course on lock-down, the last time he'll see me is at the registration table. |

The flyer is pretty comical, i like it. An Otter with Rabbies. Duan Walker and Matt Belcher are in the mix of things as well in the 40-49 Sport class. Is registration going to be in the same place as the last several years? Also, any idea on a course route? Same as the last couple years? I heard rumors that the hill climb has a reroute, where that rock is that has been washing out for years? Sounds like a good time. Rusty, this has been a great series this year and i am sure the finale will be much of the same. |

We will be using the pavilion as in years past and the course will most likely be the same. Maybe/hopefully a couple changes can be tossed in, we'll see. We went out there two weeks ago and there were some re-routes, but nothing that affected the race loop. Glad to say the worlds worst switchback created right before last years race is still large and in charge. |
