don't worry kids cherokee will always be cherokee. I am toying with the idea of adding the Big Rock upper and lower section and roll back through montana. Mostly just to piss off the local roadies. Any thoughts?

and than recently the big bump on the Hogans reroute was removed because partly because of concern for the race.
The reason this got knocked down some was because there had been a broken colar bone and another serious wreck with in a weak of each other because it was poorly designed. It still needs some work as it sits now. The back side drops straight off theres no reall "good" or "smooth" way to hit it at speed. All it would take is the back side to be mellowed out some and it would be good. These changes would have been made race or no race.
Absolutely agree. I love technicality, but that "bump" sucked. It just killed the fun of a really great section. |

No one actually designed the bump, it was just there and we just ran the trail over it. There was plenty of space to go around if you didn't like it. It was not meant to be a jump, but something you pump over or you could do a wheelie drop on it. I knew plenty of people who liked it. It maybe rebuilt, but would be designed better. Its removel was not approved. |

| Sounds to me like someone doesn't know how to ride and blamed a pile of dirt for thier jackassness <<---is that a word??? I wrecked riding with Bo King about 2 weeks ago at cheroseneca coming out of a turn, I think all turns need to be removed before someone else gets hurt. |

| It's nice that we have what we do and variety is nice, I dont think anyone is trying to make the trails homogeneous. The main point is you shouldnt get on here and start blaming our local race promoters for taking away all your favorite features when that has not been the case. Thats it. |

| The "bump" was okay (nothing to get your balls in a wad over) for people who knew it was there. What about out-of-towners or other people that ride somewhat leisurely through that section? Flowy, Flowy, Smooth, Fast, Oops-endo-broken clavicle. It's cool and all, but nothing spectacular. |

Nice job on the logo...who designed that bad boy? (point series logo) Is anyone going down this week to pre-ride? I don't mind hopping off the bike to go over obstacles that I can't ride...the alternative is not a good one...hitting a log head on is not a good strategy. Not knowing where they are is my issue...like that damned xxxlog at Waverly...before I figured out when it was coming, It would sneak up on me and my mind would go like "noooooo stop now!" and I'd slam on my brakes... it's that flight or flight thing I got going on... so that's why I'm asking about pre-riding this week, assuming the rains stops... Anyway, I'm unemployed so I can go anytime of the day, except not at like 5am like some of you roosters like to do.. I like to sleep because I usually drink heavily at night, because I'm unemployed. On a completely unrelated note, my wife joined me at the CX race at the river last fall. It was her first bike race, and she liked all the colorful kits. She affectionately referred to them as, and I sweardagod I'm not kidding.... costumes! LOL Late |

HIJack... Hey, I just got an email from a guy wanting to transfer 25,300,000 US dollars to my checking account! Wahoo! It's amazing what prayer can do for you. I didn't believe it, but I knelt and prayed to God last night to deliver me a source of income...and BAM, there's this email... I'm cleaning up and heading over to the church...and donate 2,530,000 of it right away, you know...churches always say God wants 10% of what you earn..and they emphasize PRE TAX!! God wants his first you know. getting goose bumps right now! Wow...I can't believe somebody picked ME as a business partner to invest in the US... I am so lucky. I'm going to email him back my account numbers and SS# right away... I'll let you guys know when I get the money and all. |

Damn, that would be fire. I always ride this section so it's no biggie to me. What about the "no net" section crossing the top of the waterfall. Will that be included? Where is "homebase, aka registration ST/Finsh" going to be. I just want to know for my wife who will be watching our 18 mo old. A playground and bathroom like (hogan's fountain, hint hint) would be nice. |

this thread has me all confused. the cherokee race will start/finish at frisbee field and the loop will include "no net" but there are already some reroutes in store for that section that may or may not be done in time for the race.
duffields i would imagine starts in the parking lot like in previous years

| I'll come if you guys can get Bruce to come out and race. You guys know that saying about one legged men in butt kicking contests?? Bruce could probably kick mine with one leg tied behind his back! |

Back to the Duffield topic..... We will be starting the prep work for the Duffield course early Friday morning. The course won't be fully taped until Sunday morning, but there will be markers of some sort to show the way, probably some form of bright ribbon or tape at intersections to indicate the correct path. I'll try to post up Friday afternoon to let you know what to look for. |

I think it's the same thing as a bonesmoker. Speaking of which, I think they've cleaned up their act. I have seen no action (err activity) at Cherokee this year... |
