Are you allowed to use your own canoe/kayaks in other adventure races?

Usually you can. For this race I'm bringing a jetski. You know, I doubt if I can even run five miles right now. Getting my butt handed to me will be sooo much fun.

I'm thinking William might be connected to the canoe/kayak rental company? Not really free, but it's still cheap for an adventure race and it's only a 1/2 tank away!

I'm gonna have to pass on this one Paul.  There's a small triathlon here that I have committed to that day...either racing or helping.

Will this involve plotting points on a map?

you'd have a better shot at gettin an answer from william, but my guess is prolly not. I would bet that the compass is for making sure you are heading the right way on the routes and it makes it an "adventure race".

Watching me try to run five miles; that's the adventure.

Paul,
Are you still planning on giving this a shot?  I'm looking for someone to pace me on the run and your comment has me thinking you might be the man for the job.  Hope to see you there!

Yep. Currently crawling around my loop @ 9min/mile. I dread this, but getting thumped will get me motivated to get fit!

Unfortunately I can't make it. My wife is having surgery tomorrow afternoon and I think it would be best if I stayed home.

From what I've heard it will start with a 7 mile canoe/kayak leg followed by a 4.7 mile run on pavement ending with about 7 miles of trail riding.

Good luck!

I'll see you there. He has been emailing about logistics. The latest was to bring a ziplock for a map.

Do you know anything about the mtb trail? Is it singletrack?  Hilly? Rough? I'm just thinking about what bike to bring. It looks like this thing may go off during rain tomorrow. The rain is'nt a problem per se, but I don't want to be out on the river in a thunderstorm.
