Thought this might be a fun thread. Show some pics and/or share your stories on any MTB related injuries you might have had.
Short story version:
First day clipless (thanks to Chuck), practicing across the street in the school yard. Heading home down a grassy hill, front wheel jammed sideways 'tween the sidewalk and grass, slid across the sidewalk and stopped when my head hit....the stop sign. Shin was gouged out by the bolt in my bar end (note, the white dot below my knee & above the stream of blood, yeah that's bone). After about 6 days knee was so swollen, could hardly bend. Doctor basically said I was stupid, said too late for stitches, shot me full of anti-biotics, sent me home. Took barends off forever. THE END!!!
The one and only major incident I've had but I WAS on a mountain bike.

| Shattered three ribs, got a grade 2 concussion, and bruised the lining of my heart. Running second at the start of a race at DBMX. 99 or 00. I have no real memory of the event, but people tell me that I cartwheeled all the way down the big downhill that DBMX had. (The hill was cut down the week after my yardsale.) Wish I had a video. |

Hmm... did I ever tell you guys about the time I saw my own tendon? No pictures of that one, but after I crossed the finish line at White Lightning 05 about four people came up to me asking "What the (favorite expletive) happened to you?"
I'm getting a titanium upgrade to the ankle on Friday though, I'm hoping they'll have pictures. |

| It was 2000 I was there when you went face first over the tunnel jump at dboone mx. I would estimate about a 25ft free fall before you impacted the ground. Then about 3months later mindy newnham ate it at the very same spot that's when gerry finally rerouted the corse. |

2 bruised kidneys
3 compressed disk in my back
broken thumb
knocked out toof
fractured ribs
Fractured wrist
a single bruise from my ankle to my arm pit
Puking blood
concussion
hair line fractured knee cap
Lost of trail/road rash
Mountain bike wrecks are a little blood and a bruised sternum and ribs. |

I got a little Stacy Keech thing goin. thats bout it. now my collarbone.. that is a scar I am most proud of. I think the doctor worked on me with a butter knife and some old screws he found in his shed.
