Posted By russell g on 07/28/2008 10:30 PM Where's the love? the love is in your own back yard. The love didn't help at the Cherokee race. But... Mtn Bike Depot, Bluegrass Bikes and Cycler's cafe did. Show them the love, or they may not be there to keep your ass from getting run over for the next Cherokee race. I say this with a smile because I too have been lured by the retarded low prices you come across online I ain't going to jump on the "I buy locally only" bandwagon. Cause I don't. I do buy most my stuff at The Bike Shop when I need a specific item. Now if I'm surfing the web and come across a great deal on an item that I don't need, but I just want it then I will buy it. Impulse buying. I ain't bought nothing from the Chain Love site. If I get an e-mail on an item and I want it I will buy it. Impulse buying. On the local scene I have went into the Bike Shop and bought things I didn't need. Impulse buying. I support my local shop in the last 3 or 4 months by buying road shoes, polar c200 cycling computer, middle chainring and spare tubes and cables. That being said if ChainLove has a sweet deal on a set of 29er tires I will buy them and I won't feel like I'm cutting the throat of my local shop. Nobody even local shop owner buy "ONLY LOCAL" If I started selling tubes and tires to bike shops in Kentucky and I am a Kentucky native. Let's say my tubes and tires was 15% more than what they could get from their current supplier. How many shops would use me as their exclusive tube and tire supplier? I would say none. And I wouldn't blame them cause the cost would be past on to the customer. How many "Only Local" people shop at Wal-Mart instead of the local IGA? I tell you how many very few. The wife or yourself is going to save money at Wal-mart on the grocery bill so you can support your cycling hobby. Now I got to go I seen a sweet deal on Performancebike.com |
