I used to stay on singletrack.net back in the day. I like KYMBA also I just don't have the extra time anymore. Three young children kinda takes up most of my time. I miss those days, we had a lot of fun and I met some great people through that site, we had some great group rides also. |

Re: group rides.
Yeah, it was fun when Boonerider and Gonzo tried to kill me on the Caney Loop.
We were riding in the dark hitting every berm we could find trying to miss the horse-made mud pits.
Or, that time (Laurel River Lake group ride) that Fireball kept the whole campground awake with his snoring. Does anyone have a copy of his old hardtail flexing like a FS bike.
Or, that time Gonzo made fun of me on the Cap View group ride because I was going to hold him up on my singlespeed. Then, he crashes spectacularly while trying to keep up.
Those were fun times.....well, except Fireball snoring. |

| I recall starting on Yahoo. I think Don Vogel ran that, then shortly we went singletack.net. I recall the big group ride we had a CPV in March. Bike coach Dave took a picture of just about 20, but there were alot more who came. It was a very long train of riders going through the woods. That was a lot of fun!! I still have that picture. WIth that, i must say ado. It has been extremely fun, especially racing. My youngest son has recently been diagnosed with something that i do not wish to share on this forum, that is going to require more attention and less riding. I Will visit from time to time and you may catch me at CVP. You guys and gals are great. Not to sound too cliche, but keep the rubber side down!!! |

I was on Singletrack.net...that's about when I started MTB'ing. I think that was back in 2001. My name was riptide back then. Last time of many that the forums changed, I couldn't get my old name back. |

Posted By creeping death on 09/28/2008 12:55 AM Did you have a Klein mountain bike for your avatar. Pepe? Wow its been so long ago....I had an airplane for a while and I might have had a Fisher bike like my sugar for an avatar........Do you remember when Avatar's got banned? Things got pretty exciting even back then, but the political conversations weren't as interesting or provocative. But I never really paid to much attention to the political talk...MTB is way more interesting to me.
I was just a great big noob back then. I was all excited about my new found love of mountain biking. I got to talk about all those great noobie topics like going clipless, chain maintenance, and I can't even remember the others now. My home trail has always been Cherokee cause I live so close and have so little time to ride. I used to be a regular on the Wed night ride. I do a lot more road biking now than I used to, but I prefer MTB.
