IMBA is coming to Frankfort, KY, May 17-18, and you're invited to join in the special events. Kelly and Collins Bishop of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew are teaming with the [script removed]
The visit features a group ride, IMBA Trailbuilding School and cookout. This is your opportunity to rub shoulders with the IMBA Crew while learning all about trailbuilding. Check out the details below and come join in the fun.

Schedule:
Saturday
9:00 - Noon: Trailbuilding School classroom session at the Frankfort Days Inn, 1051 US 127 south, Frankfort, KY 40601
Noon - 1:00 PM: Lunch provided
1:00 - 4:00 PM: Trailbuilding School field session at Capital View Park. Park entrance is on rte 676, adjacent to the Kentucky River and is approximately 1 mile from the hotel.
5:00 PM: Cookout at Capital View Park.
Sunday:
10:00 AM: Group ride
There are rooms reserved at the Days Inn under Kentucky Mountain Bike Association for our overnight guests. We were able to secure a discounted rate of $49.00 per night and they have been reserved for Friday and Saturday nights. Must confirm rooms by Thursday morning and payment is responsibility of individuals.

Collins and Kelly are super cool people; They stayed with some friends of mine when they were in Phoenix. If anyone has the room at their house for the weekend, I know they'd appreciate the stay, they are awesome house guests.

Don't
forget about this event. If you are into doing trail work or would like
to get involved with trail work this is a great event. Doing volunteer trail
work is a great way to get involved and support mountain biking in the
area. It is really fun to ride trail that you had a hand in building, it
helps give mountain bikers creditability with the land managers, which
eventually leads to more access.
There
is more to building trails than a machete and a rake, don’t worry I was
surprised to! This is a great opportunity to learn about all of the trail
building techniques that we have applied when building trails at Waverly and at
other trail systems in the area. If you have ever decided not to come to
a trail day because you didn't feel like you knew what you are doing, this
class is a great way to over come that. They do a really good job at
presenting the information in the class and then having you apply those
techniques in the field immediately on the same day.
I
have been to two of these IMBA trail schools and I have learned a lot each
time. This is event not to miss!

I don't wanna go because I'm fat but I'm going anyways. hehe
Serious question though...
I won't be able to make the classroom stuff as I have to work 'til 12 sooooo,
if it's pouring rain is there still going to be field work or what? I'd hate to show up rearing to go and it be cancelled by rain. I think I've still got your phone # Mike so I'll call if the weather is looking bad here in Lex. |

| I seen the IMBA grew heading north on I-75 in Lexington today. At about 1:15 with a couple of nice looking white mountain bikes on top of the Subaru. |

GOOD OLE MIKE...this is what he did most of the day...stood around with his hands in his pockets. LOL (told ya I was gonna do it) :P
We had a blast though. Good people, good turnout and NICE reroute. I would love to see what a group like that could accomplish with even just a little experience. |

| This was the largest turnout Collins and Kelly has had so far. The reroute is going to be awesome when completed. We had a great time at the cookout. Mikes told everyone about his awesome trip to Pisgah. All I can say is I'm glad it was him and not me. |

It's true - it was awesome (that I didn't die on mt pisgah).
Speaking of IMBA, we have a group ride scheduled for 10:00 this morning - the trails may still be a little damp, so if the ride does go off, it will probably be closer to 10 30 or 11. If the trails are still damp at 10 30, a few of us may just go ride around Frankfort on the knobbies.

Hey, I was wondering if imba would be interested in working on some trails in the daniel boone region of kentucky. Just 4 miles before reaching the trail head of shiltowee trace at the 192-1193 split in laruel co ky, is a trail at marsh branch of laruel lake. and beyond the split is a 5 mile single track loop with a 3/4 mile climb at Bee Rock on the rockcastle river. In addition there is an eight mile loop at the end of 1193 at Noise Dock where the Rockcastle and Laruel, and Cumberland rivers all meet.
I know this is alot of ground to cover with little help. In fact, other than PR and myself I think there may only be about 2or 3 other Riders who live in the area that ride these other trails.
It would be nice to have a choice other than the lake trail to ride and it would only be either 5 minutes sooner or later depending on your aproach to the area.

That whole region is a great place for a Trail Care Crew visit. We'll probably apply for several visits next year - eastern and western KY. Send me a PM with your contact info and we can catch up. (I owe Paul a call, too)
