I made it down there to ride after work and it was real nice until I got to the little (formerly) rock armored stream crossing next to the creek. It was the one that had all of the crap in it a couple years ago that we spent 6 hours digging out one Saturday. It is now buried 6-8 feet deep in debris and there is another 8 foot high, 20 foot wide wall of debris about 20 yards after that. I just dont see how the trail can be fixed without a Bobcat or something, worst I have ever seen any section of trail... Took awhile just to climb over all that crap. The creek has a nice big new island in it too! Must have been a hell of alot of water because I could see leaf packs in the trees way above my head.
The parks dept has also rerouted the white-knuckle rocky descent down to the creek as well. As soon as you do the downhill after crossing the road you'll hit the new trail which will take you around the entire hill and spit you out where the old boulders are. This new section of trail is pretty tame, bring the kids....

I saw this for the first time yesterday. It is in pretty bad shape. Kinda hazardous crossing all that crap. I guess the only way to fix this area for good is a long, reroute. With the amount of sidehill in this area, it will be a very laborous one at that. Was still good to be back out at the creek. That was my first time this season. Only 2nd MTB ride of the year. |

Burn the pile of crap and be done wit it, I'm sure it's all wood and leaves anyway. See if Otter can contact Fort knox and have them come out and do a controled burn, they probably need the practice anyway. |

| This is dis-heartening to read. I was really looking foward to riding at otter in a few weeks. Guess i'll just have to stick with brown county for awhile. |

This is only a small section of the trail only 75yards of the trail,
There is much more trail to ride at otter and it is a blast. So don't be discoraged about damage that is caused by mother nature, I'm sure it will eventually be cleared. Also check out youners creek and duffield, they are within a huffy toss of otter creek and have intense riding that you may be looking for. |

Yeah guys, dont get me wrong, Otter was is still fun, but that 75 yards of trail is a pain in the ass. I think burning it would be a great idea and maybe the only way of really getting it cleared since you cant get heavy machinery down there. The conditions are probably pretty safe for a burnin right now too, Metro Parks just burned the whole Iroquios Hill hilltop a few weeks ago, maybe they could do it here?

| Otter is a 3 1/2 hour drive for me. I'm only going if I know it is in good condition. I didn't mean to sound disappointed about riding at BCSP. It has quickly become my favorite trail system (and it's getting better!!). |

I will be contacting OCP to find out what they/we can do. I should have already done this, but time has gotten away from me. Ski-we is right...This is only a small section of total mileage. Definatly not worth cancelling any rides there. Just be prepared for a little upper body workout too! :-) |
