this appeared in my inbox for some reason, so, enjoy ONLY LIFT-ASSISTED BIKE PARK IN THE SOUTHEAST UNVEILED Breakaway, NC Prepares to Open 26 West Mountain Bike Park BREAKAWAY, North Carolina - April 25, 2008 - Breakaway today announced that construction of its new mountain bike park is on schedule, and the park will open May 31, 2008. 26 West Mountain Bike Park, as the facility is know, will be the Southeast's only lift-assisted mountain bike park. The new park is located 25 minutes north of Asheville, North Carolina at Breakaway Village in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The mountain bike park will debut initially with 7 trails, ranging from beginner to advanced, as well as a dedicated free-ride area. An additional 3 trails are under construction and are scheduled to be open later in the year. For 2009, 26 West Mountain Bike Park will continue to expand the free-ride area and build more beginner, intermediate and advanced level trails. For the second year, Breakaway Village will host the North Carolina State Downhill Mountain Biking Championships. Race dates will be available by May 30th. The mountain bike park compliments Breakaway Village, a resort-oriented traditional neighborhood development located 25 miles North of Asheville, North Carolina. In addition to the village center, Breakaway offers a onsite rental company which provides nightly, weekly and monthly rentals, and allows home owners to use their vacation home as an investment. Breakaway combines a spectacular setting and long-range views, with Western North Carolina’s only opportunity to enjoy whitewater rafting, mountain biking, flying fishing, hiking, horseback riding and other family activities, all in one location. People always talk about wanting to ride in the forrest. It would be an awesome place to ride. It has the best elevation gain in the area and is one of the largest urban forrest in the country (over 6000 acres). It would provide opportunties to have epic rides and would make Louisville Mountain bike destination. There is a public input meeting tonight. They are giving us a chance to let them know what we want. We need as many people as possible to show up. Details are below: The first Public Meeting for the Jefferson Memorial Forest master plan will be Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Fairdale High School (1001 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, KY 40118).
