Before Obama becomes president and does away with all capital (just a joke, don't get excited, it was me indulging in a little witzelsucht, he's a great guy, so is Hillarity, etc)...anyone riden Cap View lately? Is it worth the $50 of gas (thank you Mr. Bush) it would take to drive me and whoever from the East End to Frankfort? Are the old internet trail maps any good? If there were no air, what would we pump up bike tires with?
Take your time. |

| The IMBA Trail Care Crew will be in Frankfort this Saturday for the trail care class and trail work at Cap View. Last time I checked, the trails were in very good shape, but I can imagine they'll still be a little gooey in places if the rain continues. I'll be there tomorrow and can do a drive by, or you can call Troy Hearn at Capital City Cycles and get the report. His number at the shop is (502) 352-2480. |

Just to be clear....gasoline prices are driven by many factors (including those aformentioned Pelosi's and Bushies). But probably the biggest "problem" is the speculation in the oil futures market. There has been some movement on the futures front, requiring traders to pony up more margin before purchasing contracts (this is in Europe, home of the 'brave free-traders' where it is much easier for regulators to slap on and off requirements).
US Congress has bantered about the idea of making futures requirements move to 100%, which would all but kill those traders in for the joy ride. On pure economics, there is about $50-60 bbl of premium on oil right now. Supply has increased and demand has been fairly flat, and yet oil has doubled in the last year.
Having said that, pretend you are in Texas where they cannot find enough labor because oil is one again profitable. Or a "green scientist" that has finally been able to get investors for your waste-to-fuel idea.
I know you don't care. Bring back the cheap crude so we can drive somewhere to ride!

On the subject of mountain biking and Capital View trails. For those of us who have not ridden there but plan to make the trip down for the race on the 25th, can someone please give a description of the trails?
Thanks! Matt B.

| Not so tight anymore. Twisty sure. Long climb, not so bad though. SHould be in good shape by race day if it ever dries up. Lot of rain today!! But if we get two days of dry weather it is good enough to ride. |
