So the price of butyl tubes is supposed to kick up another 50% in the coming year. Kind of makes me less angry about buying a tubeless kit for my 29er literally less than 30 minutes before breaking my ankle. Anyhow, if you run through one tube a month (not unreasonable, IMHO), you're looking at $36 extra costs.
Then again, sometimes its best not to think about the fiscal side of one's biking habit.

| Thanks for the heads up. Now I need to purchase a few tubes and patch kits before they double in price. |

I'm running Mavic 819's on my Cannondale, laced to Cannondale hubs by Steve Wilson (they're bomber) with either Hutchison Python's or Kenda Nevegals. They're both UST tubeless tires, ran as such. My SS has a Stan's 29er rim strip on Alex DH 12 rim up front. The rear tire's in flux right now, it's generally been ran with a tube, but before I broke my ankle I fiddled around with the ghetto tubeless system: slice a standard 26" inner tube along it's circumference, seat it in the rim, inflate the tire, and cut away the excess tube with a razor. It worked, but took a bit of fiddling. Ironically, I ordered a new rim strip for the rear less than 30 minutes before breaking my ankle. The SS has a WTB NanoRaptor up front, and Schwalbe Big Apple in back. The Schwalbe is a fully-slick tire, and is actually fantastic for dry conditions trail riding on back. I've had very few traction problems (all things considered), likely because there's so much contact between tire and trail. |

| What, is butyl made out of rice or something? :) Jeez, the price of almost everything is going through the roof. Thankfully, beer and guitar strings aren't affected too bad. |
