I'm trying to edit an mpeg file. I primarily need to cut the length down. What share- freeware product works the best/easiest? I am on a PC and using Vista if it matters. Thanks!

Windows Movie Maker - it's free and probably already installed. It's not a full blown editing suite but it will do quick edits, transitions, splices, etc.

Yeah, I found that one. However, I couldn't figure out how to cut the length. I was able to split the original file, but then I could only save that as a Movie Maker file instead of the original mpeg format.

Instead of "Save Project", choose "Save Movie File", that will let you choose your quality settings and such and reencode it. This could take a while.

Assuming nothing has changed to movie maker in the past few years I think you just click on the clip, hold mouse over the end of the clip, click and drag to desired length.

Thanks guys! I gave up on it a while ago. My presentation was too long and it didn't add as much as I would like to it. But, I do appreciate the feeback.
