| Speaking of this.... at Quest @ the Summit we're getting ready to have a HUGE spring boat clearance sale. There will be a lot of canoes and kayaks. Probably more kayaks than canoes. We are trying to get rid of some of the boats that have been around our warehouse and store for a year or so to make room for the new ones. The prices will be right at cost, i.e. what we paid for the boats. I will keep posting as I know more about the date, but we're looking at around the 1st of April. There will probably be some paddles in the sale, too. If you don't want to wait until April, we have some pretty sweet boats in the store right now. |

Lindsay: Do you guys have any Werner paddles that will be in the sale?
What about Dagger Blackwater kayak?
Is this sale just for paddlesports?
One more question...sorry...but you got the inside scoop ;-) When are the 20% off coupons coming out? |

| Steve -
I think there might be just a couple of Werner paddles in the sale. This will only be the case if they have changed the 2008 models, which I believe they might have changed the Camano slightly. You should come in an buy the full carbon Kalliste paddle! haha!
Hmmm.... don't know FOR SURE if there will be any Blackwaters. If my memory serves me there might be one. I haven't peaked into our warehouse where the boats are lately. Right now in the store we have a 9ft Old Town Otter on sale for $299 and a really nice Dagger Approach 10 ft kayak on sale for $519 (from $700-something). We have 2 more Otters in the warehouse, the Approach might be the only one. In the store we also have an Old Town Dirigo 10 ft 6 in kayak for sale. I think it's $400-something ( I can't remember off the top of my head). We have plenty of Werner paddles, Astral, and Extrasport PFDs, too.
As far as the 20% coupons go, I would look for those in April. We're starting to TRY to get the ball rolling for the spring semi-annual warehouse sale. That will probably be in May, but MAYBE April. I will post on here as I know.
I am working on starting a "kayak club." This would basically be organized group paddles on the river, Harrods Creek, Floyd's Fork, etc during the week, and maybe some Green River overnighters on some weekends. It seems as though people are sometimes turned off by the idea of buying a boat b/c they're not sure where to take it and who to go with. Those aren't good excuses to miss out on the great experience of being out on the water. So, the idea is to get more people involved in paddling. There will probably be a weekly Harrods Creek paddle that begins and ends at Captains Quarters: a paddle and beer evening! |

Steve - I think that the warehouse sale and the boat sale might be combined. We're trying to work out an exact date. The idea, obviously, is for the store to make some money during the sale, so strategically the date's important. We have Easter weekend, spring break, and Thunder over Louisville to contend with in March/April. I personally think that the sale will end up being at the end of April/beginning of May. Our owner wants to put everything he can in the sale. Rod - our store's in the Summit Shopping Center at the Gene Snyder and 22. We're off the Gene Snyder, Exit 34, Crestwood. You can't miss the shopping center (Max & Erma's is out front). This year's going to be exciting at Quest. We've picked up some new lines of clothes and gear. We picked up Big Agnes sleeping bags and tents, GoLite clothing, OR, more Marmot, Native and Hobie kayaks. We have tons of great new trail running clothes and accessories, too. oh yeah, and THIS WEEKEND WE HAVE MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR ULTRALAMINA AND NORTH FACE SNOWSHOE, CAT'S MEOW, BLUE KAZOO, AND HIGHTAIL SLEEPING BAGS FOR ALMOST 50% OFF! Some of those are as low as 15 degree bags. The only reason we are selling these is b/c the 2008 bags have been slightly changed, and this is usually an aesthetic change, which does not modify the effectiveness of the bag. GET YOURSELF A SLEEPING BAG NOW!! Get a super-nice one for the price of a nice bag! Sorry for the (shameless) plug :) |

Steve, I hope your not selling all your bike stuff to buy all the water and camping gear. :)
It could be a long night at OCP if you had your Kayak with lights on the trail. ha-ha

| Yeah, if the crowd reassembles, I'm still good to go. If we end up running the Cumberland, I may bring my 8yr old. He's got alot more common sense than his daddy does. |

Tentative sale date at Quest at The Summit is the last weekend in March, friday - sunday the 28-30th. Come in that sunday and wish me a happy 26th b-day, too if you want to (since I will be miserable b/c I have to work) Oh yeah, and buy some cool stuff at cheap(er) prices! I will keep posting as I know more. I am pretty sure we'll have PLENTY of clothes, sleeping bags, probably some tents, a lot of Gregory packs, and canoes/kayaks. |

PR: It was just you, myself and sojourner, correct? that is all I remember that were definates. I have a few friends that may go. They would lean more towards BSF than Cumberland though... We'll see when things get closer.
Lindsay: thanks for the update. I appreciate the Quest beta as much or more than anybody. I did make it up there the "snow day" to get one of those MH ultralamina bags. Thanks for filling me in... It was at the top of the "to buy list". Now if you guys would just have the MH powerstretch shirt on sale... :-)
