I just moved to the Richmond area from Beckley, WV. It looks like local trails are few and far between. Beckley must have spoiled me.
Are there any groups in the area that get together for weekend rides? |

Welcome to the area (and the site). Don't know what you're coming from but there are a lot of good, easily accessible trails in and around. Some are just not easily found. I'm sure some KyMBA members can help you find your way. On the subject of rides, I don't know of any organized (schedued) mtb rides - anyone? |

| You've got S-Tree and Turkeyfoot pretty close and the trails down at Laurel Lake aren't too far either. Paul Rose is the unofficial London area MTB tourism director and, if he finds this site, will show you the trails in and around that area. If you want to travel back toward WV, Cave Run Lake has a lot of trails and the guy that owns the bike shop there can give you the inside track on what's worth riding and hasn't been destroyed by the horses. Frankfort is about 45 minutes NW and has an 8 mile trail system that flows well with some technical sections and a little climbing. I know these probably aren't as accessible as what you are used to, but you aren't totally out of luck. |

| I ride Cave Run regularly and right now we only have one trail that is rideable this time of the year. You can do anywhere from a 6 mile, 10 mile, to a 20 mile loop. This trail is rideable after a monsoon, but it includes a lot of climbing. During the summer we have the Caney loop after the swamp caused by the horses dries up. It's a 10 mile loop that's basically a race track. It's mostly double track, but it's extremely fast. These are the two most ridden trails. If you ever come to this area and want a guide contact me here or John at the shop can point you in the right direction. |

| I ride at turkeyfoot and/or laurel lake about 2-3 times a week. Usually hit turkeyfoot on friday night and then again saturday or sunday. Stree is way too wet to ride right now. Just post if you want to try turkeyfoot out sometime (or laurel, or wherever). |

Hey guys - thanks for the info and invites. WV trails tend to have a lot of climbing with the technical end of things varying from some to a lot. Most of the trails are ride-able within a couple of hours after a good rain with minimal mud.
I checked out Capitol View Park in Frankfort a couple of weeks ago. I didn't have the tires for the mud which made it a bit dicey but fun none-the-less.
Rod and PR - I'll be taking you up on your offers as soon as things settle down and I get some free time. Moving is a real pain in the a**! |

| I lived in Richmond for 3 years while going to school at EKU. Not much going on there in the mountain bike department, however there are some really good road rides for training if that interest you! |

| I know the feeling. I've been trying to get out there and ride when I'm not doing homework. I don't need to procrastinate on a 30 page paper for my senior seminar. Just post or contact me some how on this site whenever you want to ride. I'm sure I'll be able to make a little time for a ride. I rode that trail recently and it was in great shape. |
