How many on here was also a member of singletrack.net? That site was the first message board I ever joined. Now look at all grown up and stuff. That Scott guy would be proud of me.

| singletrack....ah those where the days. not sure if i was newb or what back then but i enjoyed those days on here. now its just bitching about non bike related stuff or what ever (mainly among louisville folks). once the singletrack.net and the yahoo groups came together this thing started to go down hill for me. I've talked to many others that feel the same way, and with the changing of each site we loose more and more members. i come around to find event information but as far as actually spending alot of time on here, not so much anymore. with "kymba" being hosted by a lousville team/sponsor now it just shows me that much more that kymba is louisville based, focussed or what ever. im sure all 3 of the above posters have seen this as i remember their posts from way back. with chuck and his tech stuff, gonzo and his wipping of his bikes, and creep and his shinanagons (i rememember a story about some news reporter and a naked keith maybe) |

I have been around since the Singletrack.net days. And ever since then people have been saying that KYMBA is a Louisville based group. It is not a Louisville based group and Dulin has really helped to start and get that across. As far as the site being hosted by a Louisville team/sponsor. It would make no difference where the site is based out of it just happens to be that the people who said they would step up and do the site are from Louisville and they also ride/race, hence the sponsorship. It is for multiple forums on different aspects of cycling across the state. It comes across as a Louisville biased community I think only because there is a large cycling community here in Louisville. No one is trying to outcast any segment of the state. Some realize that and some dont. It is just about who steps up for things and becaue Louisville is the biggest concentrated group it can be taken that way. |

| I agree with RJ Reynolds. Here in SE Kentucky maybe 4 or 5 of us on here. I'm glad the site is now KYMBA. |

| thanks rj you pointed out something i didn't really mean to say. i was just refering to the forumn and not the kymba banner overall. although some only see the forum as kymba . i do know better and know there is more to kymba than the forumn. i do know that dulin and gene and many others go way outside their city limits to help the future of mtbing. i've seen first hand gene meeting with the lbl folks and dulin meeting with the mamoth cave folks. But someone outside reading the forumns probobly do not see that. I do understand louisville is the biggest concentration of cyclist and why the forumn is mainly louisville now. But click on over to the cyclo cross forumn on bike clicks. its mainly on topic stuff and not all the ramblings and bitching. thats the way singletrack was for me. |

I wish there could be a filter to stop all political/religious threads, sure I post in them every once and a while but I would rather not. It is only my duty to enlighten the rest of the world that makes me hit "reply." :)

You would probably enjoy living in China where they have those "filters" in place.
Or here's an idea... Don't read it... Wahla... Instant Filter! |

well.. I remember the singletrack days! I also remember the board constantly going down. Also remember the jerseys that were ordered but never delivered. lol Nice to see all the old folk still around. Like Nick, I use to most and check singletrack daily. After looking around this board, it's just not the same. You don't get the same sense of community as you once did. Judd |

All, This is a really good thread. What do you guys think would help improve things? Hosting the forum is really just a technology thing. We provide it because we see "community" as the big component to growing all types of cycling in the area. Yes, we also sponsor a team, but that's to raise awareness/participating in the site and hopefully increase membership in its users and groups like KyMBA and OVCX and others. So, what can be done to increase the larger community concepts here? |
