I've been looking at the ky point series and it looks like I may be checking out the cherokee race. Pretty noob question but do you ride the trails or just laned out pieces of grass?? from the pics I saw it sort of seems like a mixture of both??? Any explaination of how these races work would be great.

not anymore why?
but anyway, how long are the races usually?? I'm seeing low 40's to over an hour. I'm goign to assume the races are fairly long (9 miles?) Also, what are the skill levels like?? I'm seeing pictures of people hopping off their bike to walk down a not so steep decline with not so large roots that are easily rideable. Should I start in beginner or just jump up to pro. |

What is "laned out pieces of grass?" Maybe I should smoke a bong so I could understand what the hell that means. [JUST KIDDING] Don't get upset, I do this to everyone.
As far as racing advice, if you've never raced before, I would race in the "First Timers" division. Figure about 6 miles for Cherokee. (1-lap)
If you have raced before, then you should race in the "Beginner" division. Figure about 12 miles. (2-laps)
Show up, wait for the whistle, and pedal like hell!

It's all good, I dont take offense to much, but what I was talking about was the videos I watched in the "video" section. It looked like a bunch of people riding on grass with caution tape making "lanes" out of the riding area. That's basically what I was wondering though, so I'm looking at about 6-12 miles. Is the course posted yet?? |

| The lanes you see in the pics are corridors to the next trail head. I'm not sure if the course is posted; Russell, can you answer this? |

| Got back on the Mountain bike for the first time Friday night after a 7 week break for a back injury. Hammered around waverly for 2 hours and had a blast with no pain. I have been road biking about 50 - 60 miles a week so that has helped but I'm looking forward to the Cherokee race. See you homo's on Sunday. |

| I rode down the hill and didn't get off and can say that the picture does that hill NO justice. IT was rough, rutted, steep and slick. You had to drag your ass on the rear wheel and put your chest on your seat in some spots. Cheerokee doesn't have any hills that come close to the one in the pic. |

| How ya gonna kick it - gonna kick it root down...how ya gonna kick it - gonna kick it root down! That hill looks very "root-imentary" as a bike trail. |

I looked at the other pics and it looks like hes the only guy that hopped off. I'll probably join beginner though, I hate going uphill... I can run for days, but pedal uphill = no thanks

FYI, beginners run the same course. Uphill and downhill. You sound like your amazingly talented, laughing at trails you have never ridden. I think you should do at least expert since you can "run all day" |
