Muscatatuck hosted another AMBC race today. It was hard. but then again I don't recall an easy XC race. The course conditions were, dry, wet, tacky, slick, and sometimes underwater. Fortunately most of the course was just slick. all rideable except one 20 yrd push. Lots of crashes/mechanicals. The real story was the return of "SUPERFAN" if you raced duffield you know of the legend. He was in full force in Indiana. DeathMetal blairing, Beer helmet wearing/ water soaking spectacle. well several of the river city cannondale guys tried to make it. we where already cutting it close with time and then when the dino linked direction told us to turn left and we where actually supposed to turn right kind pushed it to far. so we show up with about 15- 20 minutes. to change prep bikes, food, warmup, and register. we tried. we got all the paper work done all the prep stuff done and where trying to pay the money to get our plates. 3 people in front of us where bitching because of the wrong direction. one camera guy in front of us was trying to find out what number someone was and where they where so he could go take pictures of them. one of our guys got payed and then they started calling our groups off. so we just bailed. the one that actually paid tried to explain that their direction were wrong. they acted like they hadn't heard that but was gonna make a note of it (after we just heard about 3 others complain the same thing) and would only refund his 5 dollars for the plate. funny thing was when we finally made it into the park our other teammate was already there and asked if we got lost with the directions. he said it was the same way last year and he went the wrong way last year. You would think an ambc race would get this right, expecially after the second year of the wrong directions. so we hit up brown county instead and found several other racers there that had bailed on that race. Seen three or maybe four flats on the way out of the park. that had to be in the first mile or so of the trail. looked like a cool park though. a little to short of a trail to travel for but overall a cool park with the terain and the rocky soil we seen.

Sorry to hear that RCC guys and gals. I wasn't aware of the directions on the site I just went to google maps. I won't rub it in about the race but I'm sure you had a good ride at Brown Co.

Nick, My wife and I also followed the wrong directions based on the website. Luckily we still had plenty of time to spare beforehand, but in the 15-20 minutes we lost we saw no less than four other vehicles full of Mountain bikes doing the same thing as us and two of the vehicles asked us for directions. If somebody knows the person who provides the directions on the website please tell them to change them. "Superfan" did rock the course with the beer hat, the 80's style boom box and all. He was a sight to see.

Hey guys, Mr DINO here. I am really sorry that Mapquest messed you up. The written directions on our site were correct (SOUTH of US 50) but mapquest dropped its little star in the wrong place. I think I will have to trick it to make it work for next year, or use something else like google maps. If you did pay and didn't get to race, please e-mail me and I will take care of you. We value your participation and satisfaction with our events. However, please keep in mind that you do need to allow a little extra time to arrive for a race "just in case". We would not be able to register a dozen plus people arriving minutes before the start. Happy trails, -Brian
