Can someone tell me more about the short-course format for the July 20th Capitol View race? I have never raced this format and was wondering if the object of the race is to see how many laps you can complete in a set amount of time. Is the start spaced out between riders? Normally how long is the course length? I raced the Capitol View XC race May 25th. This was my first race in over 13 years and the short course format is new for me. Thanks. |

| Each group (sport, expert, beginners) all start as a group and race for the given time, say 30 minutes. After that time everyone does one more lap and whoever crosses the line first wins. The course is much shorter than the XC race. |

| laps will probably be one to two miles, you'll start with everyone else in your class. instead of set mileage or lap numbers, you race for a set amount of time, i.e. 30 minutes or so. So lets say you race beginner, you'll do laps until the 30 minute mark, at which point the bell will ring and you'll be told one lap to go. Whoever finishes first wins, as long as that person has done as many (or more) laps than everyone else in the group. |

| If the race is like last year's, its not a short track race rather it's a short xc race. |

| Thanks to all that responded. I have a better understanding of how it works now and planned to be there in the Sport 40-49 group. I hope to see you there. |

| See the flier under the points series for Capital View. This will give you start times, and lenght of time for each class. Lenght is about 1.5 miles. About 2/3 of the gravel parking lot has since been paved so an alternative will probably be incorporated into the loop. This is a little more challenging than the short course at Youngers. I recall the first year Woodson and Danny put this on people thought it would be easy, wanting to bring Cross bikes and such. It was surpirsing more difficult than what it sounds. Airlines supply regugitation bags for passengers. This type of race may require complimentary regurgitation bags as well. |

i had a blast. Those dry off camber corners were friggin hard, almost bit it a couple times. I did crash right at the start of the sport race, bike just slid out from under me a top that first little hill on the dirt road. Luckily i didn't take anyone else out.
It was friggin blazing hot out! Next race i am definatly going to have a water bottle to squirt myself with, i thought i was going to overheat
Also, I saw a ton of people in the woods taking pics. Anybody have alink? |
