Hi All
I will be in town visting family and was thinking about hiting the trails at Cherokee. Never ridden the dirt there before. Is there a map of trails I can access? Any suggestions on starting points, places to avoid, etc?

head to Cycler's cafe 2295 Lexington Rd. on a Sat. and someone there will give you heads up. the trail head is about 1/4 of a mile from the shop.

| Do you own a GPS? There are maps of Cherokee at MotionBased, among other things. |

| find a local to ride with, I'm a local and just recently found the courage to ride the trails alone without getting lost. that place is a spider web of trails, I don't think a map would even help. |

| most of the trails are marked now. If you ride into Cherokee and start looking for trails from the road you will find one. Look at the green signs at the trailhead to see if they are bike friendly. Some will be marked for hikers only, so obviously stay off those. A good place to start is at the Big Rock parking lot. To get there turn on Pee Wee Reese Blvd off of Taylorsville Rd., go to the stop sign and take a right. At the next stop sign go straight into the parking lot. The trail head is right there. Basically from there ride the trail, hit the road, then hit the next trail you see. If it is nice find someone to tag along with and they can show you some of the less easy to find trails. |

| RDenny, don't you need to take a left at the stop sign? RICO is right, you need to ride with a local, so post up and hopefully someone can meet you for a tour. |

Hey All
Thanks for the suggestions. I made it out on Sunday for a ride in Cherokee. It really is a spiderweb of trails, but I was able to link the singletrack with some road sections to make a good ride. There are some really fun trails in there with some fairy technical sections. You all are really lucky to have a park like that right in the middle of town.
