20+ miles in 3 hours (two full laps). Spicer 29er SS (32x18)
As Brad and I washed our bikes at my house we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the weather was and decided to spin over to Cherokee. A shout out to Jim Whaley and we were off to meet him at Big Rock around 1 PM on a super nice, sunny, April afternoon. We picked up Purvis in route, and somehow all ended up at the rendezvous point at the same time. As we set off, Mitch, fresh off a lung busting, Rustinski-pace, Cycler’s Cafe training ride, joined our troupe. The trails were in great shape, and I was feeling pretty good, so I took the lead and just let her go. It was one of those days when you remember how much you love this, the bike disappears, and you just seem to float over the trail. I did lay it over once coming down from Seneca golf course, but everyone laughed at how far I slid and made sure I was okay. It was so much fun that I forgot to eat and was starving when...

25 miles XC in 3 hours. Spicer SS running 32x18
After checking the weather and calling ahead about trail conditions we rolled into the park around 11. The standing water on the slope above the parking lot was discouraging, but we ventured up hoping for dry trails on higher ground. Once in the woods we were not disappointed, and with the exception of a few (avoidable) wet spots, were treated to another great day of mountain biking in Brown County State Park. At least until we crossed the road at Hesitation Point. For some reason...

Gene McDaniel, Brad Goldberg About 30 miles XC, in around 3 hours on the Spicer SS running 32x17 gearing. Early morning start was a bit chilly, but bearable thanks to Gene and his borrowed leg warmers. Traffic was really low on the way in, but steadily increased as the day wore on. The trails were in fantastic shape, with only a few easily avoidable puddles. We ran out of time before making it back up to Hesitation Point on our 2nd lap, which was a good thing since I ran out of legs about 5 miles from the end trying to keep up with Goldberg. Needed to eat more and more often.

Brad Goldberg, Jim Whaley Around 50 miles on the road in about 4 hours. Rolling, occasionally steep, hills at a medium pace. Sunny but very windy and around 55 deg. Headed out from Slugger Field right after Candice Goldberg finished the 10k. Crossed the great divide (2nd St. bridge), and chased Jim and Brad up and down hills all day. I have got to increase my climbing performance this year.
