Another Worlds has come and gone, and whilst I might be a little jaded after a busy few days in Holland and more than half a lifetime of Worlds, it didn’t seem to be a real epic weekend in terms of the racing, weather, upsets, controversy or major talking points. Personally I blame the weather! Something so simple as a 5degC hike in the temperature on Saturday night, or Mondays’ snow arriving 24 hours earlier would have created the epic my Worlds addled brain demanded. The ground in Hoogerheide is notoriously poor for drainage, the course layout demands dismounts and running as soon as the surface deteriorates due to the succession of 180 degree corners on hillsides which create adverse camber cornering followed by slow climbs, so all but the very best are off and running.

So weekend #2 of the USGP is coming up quickly, and my focus is narrowing to keep this white jersey on my shoulders for at least one more weekend. Of course the USGP is a season-long series, but I'm just going to take it one race at a time. The excitement and surprise from Louisville is still fresh in my mind, and I guess the thing I'm thinking about most is how the heck am I supposed to defend a leader's jersey against Tim Johnson, Jeremy Powers, Todd Wells and Ryan Trebon? I just mentioned the 4 most dominating characters in US cyclocross, and they're all hungry for results this fall.
I'm not scared, in fact I'm just using that question as motivation. If you think they're hungry, immagine how hungry I am! I had an unplanned short road season, and after clawing my way back from two injuries this year I am absolutely starving for results. I'm in the best shape of my life right now, and I'm exactly where I want to be this 'cross season. I know I am still building my fitness up, and my hope is that I can go as hard as I can up through nationals and make every race count up until that point. ...

Well Sports Fans, another year in Louisville is in the books. It went by so fast and furious that I can hardly recall it. But there was a lot to recall. Arriving in Louisville was great. There was a ton of prep work done by a large crew of folks led by Bob Bobrow to get the park back in shape after the remnants of the Hurricane. Trees were down all over town so it was easy to see that there was lots to do. In any case that was done thank God. We arrived at Champions Park and started immediately to put some changes in place from last seasons course and venue. In the end we accomplished the goals of improving the Expo and getting the back half of the course going backwards to achieve a correct direction through the back to back pits. So all in all the course was a success. I was also pleased because everyone seemed to love riding it. When both power riders and technical ride

Hi there USGP riders, fans and cx supporters. This is the first of many posts here I hope. And I hope you like it. We will try to bring you info from the inside out. Some entertaining and I hope some useful.
News from the road. I recently attended the Roc d Azur in France, an annual cycling gathering for about 30,000 Euro folk. Mostly crepe eaters. There is a very prestigious Mountain Bike marathon going on there with many of the biggest names and I sat down for dinner with Christoph Sauser, the current World Champion who is just back from Interbike. We talked a bit about his Vegas cross experience. It was his first ever cross race! And he was in the front group until the final lap. I had to break the news to him that not every race is like a crit - throw in some mud and technical elements and it's a real game changer! It was interesting to see that he was wearing some goofy looking open toe compression stockings at dinner and putting his feet up at every chance. What it means to be World Champ. ...
