Waverly Trail Day Saturday Dec 19, 2009 9am

We have a trail day Scheduled for Sat Dec 19, 2009 at 9am. We will be meeting in the main parking lot by the play ground area. (remember trail days are every 3rd Saturday of the month at Waverly)

I will talk with Larry this week to find out what we are working on. Depending on turn out we should be able to complete the finish work on Robbies reroute. I will talk to Larry about seeing if we can't spend some time adding some grade reversals to this reroute to improve the trail flow and drainage.

Remember for every 6 hours that is worked you receive a 25% off coupon that mountain bike depot (offer not valid on bikes or apparel) We are counting the hours that were worked at the last Waverly trail day which can be combined with those from O’bannon for this promotion. I have had 3 people already reach the 6 hours and will be getting in touch with them shortly to get their coupons to them.

We have had some great volunteer turn outs recently, which we are really thankful for. I hope we can continue that with this trail day. We are building lots of good trail and improving mountain biking in the area.

Tools will be provided

Please post if you plan on being at the trail day.

Thanks
Chris Ward

Hi Chris,

I am going to try to be there Saturday; it will depend on whether or not I can get someone here in the shop.

Also, just for clarification, the 25% card is good for anything from our shop, the Trail Store, or Maps Unlimited, save for bikes and electronics like Garmin GPS Units, Powertaps, things of that nature. Apparel from either shop is absolutely fair game! In fact, we've just received some great new winter gear that would make for excellent Christmas gifts!

Unless my cold worsens (been around a lot of sick people lately), I will be there on Saturday.

I talked to Larry and the plan is to work on doing finishing work on the switch back metro parks built with the ditch which. If we have a big enough crew we will work on adding some grade reversals to trail that has recently been cut.

If we have a hard freeze that makes the ground too hard for digging we have several other projects that we can work on, that include triming, some repair work on the IMBA reroute, and fixing a tranision for a bridge back by the golf course.

It does look like we could be getting some snow Friday night into Saturday. If you think the roads are bad, or you might have problems making it home from the trail day, you might want to consider skipping this trail day. We have plenty of other trail days planned, and if road conditions are bad, conditions on the trail are not going to be condusive for trail work. Save your trip for another day that we can be more productive on in that case.

I will be there regardless, and I will be bringing my bike. A snow ride sounds like fun!

Thanks for everyone's support.

Ben that is ok. You did reach 6 hours of trail work with your effort at o'bannon last Sunday, so I owe you 25% off coupon from Mountain Bike Depot.

Thanks for your help!

I will be at Waverly at 9am today for today's trail day.
Thanks

We had 5 volunteers show up including my self yesterday in questionable conditions. It was a small crew but hard working as we were able to get a lot done. We fixed a section of trail that had been a trouble spot for sometime. On the IMBA reroute we had a sink hole that had been a nagging problem for a while. We tried filling in several times which always seemed last 6-8 months, but ultimately the water flowing through the area would wash out our fill materials. We used one of the bridges that had been pulled from another location to bridge the sink whole, we also modified the trail to create a clean line into the bridge. The section of trail should have great flow to it now and a permanent fix to the sink hole problem in this location.

Thanks again to everyone who came out and thanks to Larry at Metro parks for his support.

Good news! That hole is a wheel eater!
Thanks to everyone for braving the conditions and hooking Waverly up
