Ideas on pre season / winter training for newbie

Any ideas on resources to build a training regiment for cross racing next year for someone new to cross and who hasn't been on a bike for a while?

I'm looking to race cross next year and figure that starting now would allow me to build enough base endurance. I have been rather inactive lately but would like to race next season with my single speed tri-cross and figured cross is a fun way to stay in shape and have fun while building my over all bike skills.

With that being said any help will be greatly appreciated.
